Music from Duo En's CD "AFFINITY" was used in the recent documentary film by Seattle-based filmmaker Ken Slusher, "The Seike Garden: An American Story." This is the story of a Northwest Japanese family and their garden, a story of loss and rejuvenation. Duo En has been selected to be a part of the GOA CHILLOUT ZONE Compilation CD! It is the first in a series of Compilation CDs with a theme of Peace. 10% of the revenue will be donated to a charity that supports environmental protection and animal rights.

Duo En is pleased to announce that the track “Kojo no Tsuki” (Moon Over Castle Ruins) from our latest release, Moonviewing, is to be among the featured tracks on XM Satellite Radio Channel 43’s "R.A.D.A.R. Report." The show will air at 7 pm Pacific Time tomorrow night (Thursday, July 12th), and it can be heard on XMU, XM RADIO Channel 43, XM RADIO Online, Direct TV Channel 831 and on AOL.

Duo En's "Floating Leaves" will be included in the City of Seattle's upcoming CD of artiists who have played in their "Seattle Presents" concerts at City Hall. Details coming soon....

ENは日本の音楽の魅力に引かれ、長く日本で学ん だ夫婦によるデュオ。琴を担当するのは受賞経験もあるエリザベス・ファルコナー。尺八を演奏するジョン・ファルコナーは自作曲のほか、アメリカの霊歌をア レンジしたものやロマンチックなクラシック曲、また軽快なキューバのメロディーをも披露する。
彼らの音楽は、「瞑想音楽」を超え、新しい伝統的な日本の楽器の魅力を映し出す。シアトルを拠点として活動するエリザベスとジョンは日本語を学び始めた1974年に知り合う。お互いに惹かれあうと同時に日本にも傾倒する。ふたりは12年以上を日本で過ごし、日本の音楽を学んだ。
その頃からアメリカと日本でツアーを行い、自作曲やアレンジ曲とともに日本の伝統音楽を演奏する。日本の音楽や文化に対する彼らの愛情は温かでインスピレーションにあふれた演奏にあらわれている。ENは日本、音楽、そして互いの存在にゆかりを持つデュオである。

Duo En's music and score is featured in Shu-ling Hsieh's film "Long Distance" which recently received the "Best Short" in the 2005 NYC Short Film Festival.

At our "Music for the mind and spirit" concert at East West Bookshop on Dec. 3rd, Karen Nagata created two beautiful winter ikebana flower arrangements for our stage. We debuted a new work, Snow Dream - and it was so wonderfully complemented by Karen's art. You can see photos on our "photos" page. We feel so lucky to have met this wonderful artist!
